Situation
Unexpected error occurred when trying to login using groupwise 7 support pack 1 or later
Resolution
1) Login using groupwise 6.5 client
2) Go to Tools ---> Environment ---> Views and click Set Default View
3) Using standalone gwcheck , perform reset client options on the user database
4) Using standalone gwcheck , do analyse and fix problems , structure|index and fix problems and once it is

Additional Information
If the above steps do not resolve the issue , then using groupwise 6.5 client archive all the mails and drop the user from the guardian database and login to create a new blank user data base and unarchive the mails
