POA performance slows down and crashes due to high application connections

Environment

Novell GroupWise 7
Novell NetWare 6.5

Novell GroupWise Post Office Agent Client/Server Access Mode

Situation

POA performance slows down and crashes due to high application connections
Increasing Application connections slows down POA performance
POA crashes with application connections above 1000
POA slows downs with appllication conectinos above 1000

Resolution

Steps to Resolution:
1. Shut down POA
2. Rename WPCSIN and WPCSOUT
3. Launch Console One with Groupwise snapins preferably the snapins should be same as the agent version
4. Connect to Domain to which the Post Office in concern belongs
5. Delete POA object and synchronize the post office object. Create POA object and ensure that the port numbers and IP address is specified
6. Change the link configuration to Direct TCPIP between teh MTA and POA
6. Rename wphost.db in the post office folder
7. Right Click post office object - highlight groupwise utilities - select system maintenance
8. Select Rebuild database and click run
9. Synchronize Post office object
10. Load the POA on the NetWare server and check if MTA and POA are communicating with each other on TCPIP
Press F10 on the POA screen and check Message Transfer Status. This should display outbound and inbound tcpip
address and send and receive as open.
Press F10 on MTA screen and check configuration status. This screen should show TCPIP connection to POA with
correct port number (default 7101)

Additional Information

If there are multiple domains in the GroupWise system then when POA object is deleted and re-created, it has to be ensured that the changes are replicated and the information is replicated to all Primary domain.
