8801 errors during login in 802.1x environment

Environment

Novell Client for Windows 2000/XP/2003 4.91 Support Pack 4 Login

Situation

If you log into the workstation with a local account and password combination that does not match the Novell eDir credentials used during that same attempt, the authentication attempt against the NAC host will fail and the 8801 errors will occur as a result.

LOGIN-LGNWNT32.DLL-923: An unexpected error has occurred: 9 (8801).
LOGIN-LGNWNT32.DLL-918: This utility was unable to get connection information.
Error code: 8801.
LOGIN-LGNWNT32.DLL-923: An unexpected error has occurred: 13 (8801).
LOGIN-LGNWNT32.DLL-923: An unexpected error has occurred: 15 (8801).

Resolution

This problem is fixed in updated NOVEAP.DLL (21Mar2008) and NOVNPNT.DLL (23Mar2008) modules provided as post-4.91 SP4 field test files. The fix is documented as "8801 errors when logging in using 802.1x. (Bug 347351)"
