Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management
Situation
Vulnerabilities appear to not be applicable to devices that need it.
Vulnerability bundles are not completing the deployment. They remain in a 'Pending' state.
1,000 Vulnerabilities enabled for Update Cache to process.
Many Vulnerabilities enabled for Update Cache to process.
Resolution
Download the patches needed, as a general rule, ie: the ones wanted for installation.
Downloading unneeded patches will use unnecessary disk space and every patch not needed will get mirrored to the other ZCM servers in the zone - and to the Content Distribution Points (CDPs) as well.
In a Novell test environment it took about an hour to Update Cache on 20 vulnerabilities (rough estimate). Product Enhancements are being worked on for future updates.
This is fixed in version 10.1 - see KB 7001200 "ZENworks 10 Configuration Management with SP1 (10.1)" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support .
