Environment

Products:
Novell Teaming 1.0
Novell Teaming 1.0 Support Pack 1
Novell Teaming 1.0 Support Pack 2
Novell Teaming + Conferencing
Novell GroupWise 7
Novell GroupWise 7 Support Pack 2

Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Support Pack 1
Configuration:
Teaming is installed and configured on a SLES server.
GroupWise is also installed and configured with at least one Domain, Post office and Internet Agent.
A resource has been created in GroupWise that is linked to a folder in Teaming so that any emails sent to the resource are posted into the Teaming folder. See Novell Teaming Documentation : GroupWise & Interoperability guide.

Situation

Symptoms:
Messages repost to blog every 15 minutes.
Message posts are being duplicated in Teaming folder.
Duplicate entries every 15 minutes.
Messages sent to the GroupWise resource are getting posted to the Teaming folder but are then duplicated over and over again according to the Teaming Email Schedule (example: every 15 minutes).

Resolution

GroupWise is configured to NOT "Allow purge of items not backed up".
Teaming uses POP or IMAP and cannot purge the messages from the GroupWise Resource's Mailbox.
Solution:
This has been fixed in the Teaming 1.0 Support Pack 3 code.
Workaround:
For the individual Resources, allow the purge of items not backed up. The items are being exported and saved in Teaming anyway so they do not need to be protected.
This feature is changed from ConsoleOne under GroupWise Client Options.

Additional Information

Root Cause:
The current implementation of POP/IMAP in Teaming does not identify items marked for deletion as different from other emails in the mailbox.
Client Options can be set at the domain, post office or user level.
By default the “Allow purge of items not backed up” is checked/allowed.
If this option is unchecked or disallowed then no email can be purged without a backup timestamp being added to the email messages.
