Novell eDirectory 8.8 for Windows 2003
Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for Linux
Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for Windows 2000

Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for Netware

Situation

Symptoms:

  • Dsrepair's Timesync and Report Synchronization Status display -625 errors to the problem server even though the server can be pinged or telnetted to port 524.
  • Netware servers in the same ring may show constant lost communication / established communication messages to problem server.
  • The server displaying the -625 messages will display BADCONN messages or -4999 error messages:
Trace snippet example:
177913:3515874208 NCPE: [2008/01/25 16:50:37.423] DEBUG: NCP Reply (BADCONN)
to tcp:10.250.209.31 - conn 23, seq 14, size 16, ccode 135
4137335712 NCPE: [2008/01/25 16:49:31.785] DEBUG: NCP Reply (BADCONN) to
tcp:10.55.5.172 - conn 23, seq 0, size 16, ccode 135

A key symptom is that as you may notice in the previous trace snippet there are different IP addresses using the same
connection number as underlined. (This is not supposed to happen)

Used the following tags with dstrace, +tags +time and +ncpe
  • May have problem's logging into the server directly when experiencing the above symptoms.
