OESL rcd crashes on daemon startup

Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server (OES)
Novell Open Enterprise Server (Linux based) version 1 Service Pack 2 (OESL)
Novell ZENworks Linux Management - rcd
rcd version 2.4.9-1.20.3

Situation

OESL rcd crashes on daemon startup
rug refresh unable to contact the daemon
restarting rcd failes to load rcd and rcd crashes

Resolution

1. While the rcd daemon is in a crashed state, delete all of the files in the /var/cache/rcd directory
2. Delete the services.xml file
3. Start rcd.
4. Apply the YOU patch-11695 for latest rug and rcd packages: rug pin patch-11695
The cause of this problem is a mismatch of rug and rcd package where the rug package is current, but the rcd package is older.
