Environment

Novell ZENworks 7 Linux Management - ZLM7

Situation

Device registration is not using the registration code.

Devices registering in the wrong folder.

Resolution

Workaround:
  1. Using the ZENworks Control Center, manually delete the device.
  2. From the bash prompt on the managed device run the following commands:
  3. 'rug sl' (to list the services added)
  4. 'rug sd<#>' (entering the number for the desired service to be deleted)
  5. 'rug sa -k ' (adds the service and registers using the registration key entered)

Fixed in ZLM7 IR1 or later. See the Novell Knowledgebase for Updates to Novell ZENworks 7 Linux Management.

Additional Information

The ZLM server was unavailable at the time of registration. The registration code is stored in the /etc/opt/novell/zenworks/zmd/initial-service file, however is not read on registration retry.

The device is being passed the registration code from a text file during the silent install of ZMD.
