Environment

Novell Nsure Identity Manager

Situation

714 error when trying to create a Driver Set object
714 error trying to add server to Driver Set

Resolution

Verify that the IDM modules vrdim and dxevent are loaded on the server being added to the driver set.

Re-install dxevent on the server. If it is already installed, stop and restart NDS on the box. The reason is because NDS has to be restarted to pick up new modules. You can do this with the following commands.
/etc/init.d/ndsd stop
/etc/init.d/ndsd start
Then check to see if it is running by typing in ndstrace -c "load dxevent"
If it is not installed check the /var/ndsd.log file for errors and correct them.
Then re-create the Driver Set object.

Additional Information

This may occur if dxevent is not installed correctly on the server. This only occurs with eDirectory running on Linux OS servers. To see if dxevent is running, run ndstrace and then type modules in the ndstrace screen.
