Sound not working on IBM xSeries x205 / snd-intel8x0

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
 

Situation

After installation of SLES10 on a IBMx205-Series machine sound does not work at all.

Resolution

Changeoption settingac97_quirkfor modulesnd-intel8x0from -1 to 1 in/etc/modprobe.d/soundand restart the kernel module.
