Environment

Novell Identity Manager Driver - SAP User Management
Novell Identity Manager 3.5.1
Novell Identity Manager Driver - SAP

Situation

For SAP version 4.7 and later servers, when using CUA to distribute SAP User data it is necessary to create an RFC destination for the IDM Driver's Logical system even if a FILE port is being utilized for the distribution. The following instructions for creating the RFC destination should be performed as the first step of configuring the "File Port Definition" in section 6.1.3 of the Implementation Guide.

Resolution

Create RFC Destination

1.In SAP, type transaction code SM59

2.Click the Create icon

3.Name the RFC destinations (use the driver’s logical system name, for example, DRVCLNT100.)

4.Select L as a Connection Type (for a Reference connection to a Logical Destination)

5.Add a Description for the destination (such as 'RFC Destination for FILE port Distribution of User Idocs')

6.Save your entry.

Depending on the version of the SAP server, there may or may not be error messages displayed when the CUA Landscape is saved in section 6.1.5 "Activating Central User Administration". The following text describes what has been observed on a standard 4.7 server:

If a FILE port is being used for User Idoc distribution, some systems may display a log message stating "Error when saving the ALE distribution model in child system DRVCLNT100". This is a normal message when the distribution target system is an external system or the file system.

NOTE: After applying transaction BD82, a RFC connection with RFC destination DRVCLNT100 will be created automatically. This connection should not be deleted.
