Environment
Novell
ZENworks 7 Handheld Management - ZHM7
Situation
Set enhanced
debugging and logging for ZHM7 and locate the log files.
Resolution
Files named
StatusLog*.txt in the ZHM installation area (Server, Access Point
and Desktop Sync) contain the log information for debugging any
problem. For example, see: \program files\novell\zfh and \program
files\novell\zfhap directories.
Most of the
errors in that log file supply an Explanation field and a
Suggestion field which may help in recovering from the
error.
In order to get more detailed information, you should change the value of the"Diagnostic Mode” to a decimal value of 0 through 10 in the following registry entries:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\ZENworks for Handhelds\Current Version
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\ZENworks for Handhelds Proxy\Current Version
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\ZENworks for Handhelds Proxy\Current Version\IP Conduit
The higher the value, the more the diagnostic information printed in the file. Typically 4 is adequate.
Note:
Running the server at a higher value will make the file grow large
and may make the machine appear sluggish. This should only be
used to debug a specific problem.
If the value is set to 4, the database-related diagnostic messages are printed in a separate file in the same folder.
Additional
debug files are located on the server at C:\Program
Files\Novell\ZfHAP\filedata\Handheld SWD Logs
To get agent
debugging information on a managed handheld device, run the
ZFH7 agent application. Under "menu", select "view
log". Enable the option: "log diagnostics".
