Situation
This document is an overview of the users and groups used by
various web applications installed on a Linux based Open
Enterprise Server. It is important to know that users and
groups can be found in the standard files (etc/passwd and
etc/group) and in eDirectory. Most system users and groups
will be found in the files, however, when NSS is installed on an
OES linux server, some users and groups will be moved from the
files and imported into eDirectory. Users and groups in
eDirectory must be managed via iManager.

* A note on NetStorage. NetStorage uses the xtier
middle-tier server for authentication and session management.
Xtier consists of 2 daemons, xsrvd and xregd who have their own
users and group. (novlxsrvd, novlxregd, novlxtier) For
