Environment

Novell eDirectory 8.5.1
Novell eDirectory 8.6.1

Situation

How to change the IP address on a Windows NT/2000 Server.

Resolution

Change the IP address information as needed in the properties of Network Neighborhood / Local Area Connection as normal for the Windows environment.
Edit C:\NOVELL\NDS\DIBFILES\CONFIG.ACS
Delete the [NCP Engine/Transports/Enum] and [NCP Engine/Transports/Enum/00#] lines
Rename C:\NOVELL\NDS\DIBFILES\TRANSACT.ACS
Reboot.

**NOTE: Not all servers will have a TRANSACT.ACS file. If you don't have one, just edit the CONFIG.ACS file as stated above and reboot the server. When the server boots the CONFIG.ACS will be read for the "[NCP Engine/Transports/Enum] and [NCP Engine/Transports/Enum/00#]" lines. If the " [NCP Engine/Transports/Enum] and [NCP Engine/Transports/Enum/00#]" lines are not found, a TRANSACT.ACS file will be created and the [NCP Engine/Transports/Enum] and [NCP Engine/Transports/Enum/00#] lines
will be written with the new network address information.
