Situation
Changes
Upgraded to Novell GroupWise 7 WebAccess.
Symptoms
Novell GroupWise 7 WebAccess logins are extremely slow.
Novell GroupWise 7 WebAccess performance is very slow.
Novell GroupWise 7 WebAccess Application is running on a
Windows 2003 server.
Novell GroupWise 7 WebAccess Agent is running on a NetWare
server.
Novell GroupWise 7 WebAccess login page loads promptly.
No errors appear on the Novell GroupWise WebAccess Application
or Agent log files.
No errors appear on the Novell Tomcat 4 or IIS log
files.
Resolution
Corrective Steps
Disable NetBios on the Windows 2003 server.
This setting is found on the WINS tab under Advanced TCP/IP
Settings.
Additional Information
A trace from the Windows 2003 server where the GroupWise WebAccess
Application was installed to the NetWare 6.5 server where the
GroupWise WebAccess Agent was installed revealed a large number of
NetBios requests. This traffic appears to be slowing down the
GroupWise WebAccess communication. When we disabled NetBios,
the communication was immediately back to normal. No server
reboot or even webserver restart is necessary.
