Situation
Collection servers would show as unavailable at random intervals
during the day and/or overnight. No pattern to which servers would
do this, or at what time during the day or night. Required a
full restart of the collection server to restore
connectivity. The following error code was noted in the
collection server log files:
Database Persistence Layer Error in DBOracleErrorHandler::serverError

[2.5.3] Error: '[5] SQL call failed.' Message 1: '[12154] 08004'
Message 2: '[1] SQL call failed.'

Resolution
Stop the ZAM and Oracle services on the server
Uninstall the ODBC driver
Delete all of the oracle related registry entries from the problem server
Reboot
Stop ZAM and Oracle services
Reinstall ODBC driver
Start services
Repeat above steps for every affected server.
