Environment

Novell ZENworks Asset Management 3.3 - ZAM3.3
Novell ZENworks 7.5 Asset Management - ZAM7.5
Novell ZENworks 7 Asset Management - ZAM7
Novell ZENworks TS.Census 3.2

Situation

Weekly scan of 3000 workstations is taking 5 days to complete the entire cycle of scanning, loading, and workstations getting checked back in to the database.
Check the User Defined Fields that have been created. If there are any component UDF's with a default value set then each time the collector runs that data has the potential of changing. Since that potential exists then the loader must update each component each time a load takes place which is equivalent to all the components being loaded each scan. Normally on a subsequent scan only the delta information will get loaded from scan to scan unless you have given the component UDF a default value when created.
You can verify by doing a subsequent scan of a machine. Once the scan is completed, data loaded and the workstation checked back in you can review the Loader log within the Collection Server's \logs directory. You can browse for 'load duration' and for each workstation will find a summary of the load.

Resolution

Remove the default value from the User Defined Field
