Cannot store ZENworks Image-Safe Data on some Fujitsu and Siemens PCs

Novell ZENworks Desktop Management 7 - ZDM7 Imaging

Situation

On some Fujitsu and Siemens PCs, the ZISD (ZENworks Image-Safe Data) cannot be stored - if you save data, then view it, it shows as "not found".

ZISWIN looks for empty sectors to store the ZISD, and it defines "empty" as being full of binary zeroes - the PCs that have a problem have the sectors filled with binary "f7" instead.

Resolution

For ZDM7: Fixed in ZENworks 7 with SP1 Desktop Management, available athttps://download.novell.com

Sectors filled with binary f7 will be treated as available for ZISD storage.

For ZLM 7.2: this was not fixed before end of General Support, so remains an issue
