TFTP does not download files correctly

Environment

Novell ZENworks Desktop Management 6.5 - ZDM6.5
Novell ZENworks Desktop Management 7 - ZDM7 PreBoot Services (PXE)
Novell ZENworks Desktop Management 7 - ZDM7 Imaging

Situation

With some workstation hardware, responses from the workstation may be delayed, with the result that the TFTP process may not correctly identify which TCP session it should be responding to, resulting in the TFTP process failing, or taking a very long time to complete. Some symptoms may be:
  • The PXE menu can not be displayed
  • Linux Panic
  • it takes a long time to transfer the files to the workstation


Resolution

For ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management: Fixed in ZENworks PXE (PreWorx) files dated 28 Jul 2006 or newer in ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management SP2 IR1 or newer found at https://www.novell.com/support .
