Situation

A (1110) error refers to an unauthorized connection, similar to a HTTP authentication error (401)

Agent: Register Agent Failure. An HTTP authentication error (401) occurred contacting . The server denied access to the requested resource. Verify the hostname and serial number are entered correctly and try again. Error Code: 401

Errors are seen in the Application and System event logs on your ZENworks Patch Management Update Server.

Resolution

This is a general error that the agent can't communicate with the PLUS server, so general connectivity troublshooting applies. There may also be an IIS permissions issue - see PatchLink KB article 89
Here are things to check:
  1. Check the local PLUS ANONYMOUS and PLUS_AGENT to see if the are locked.
  2. Check the Update Server to see if the PLUS ADMINS Group has full control of the update server directory, and has full control.
  3. During the install of the Agent, make sure you are using the correct Serial Number, and its typed in UPPERCASE.
  4. Make sure the time is set correctly on the server.

The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details.
