8209 Errors when trying to restore items from backup.

8209 Errors occur on the GroupWise client and POA when trying to restore via the GroupWise client from backup. The Restore Area directory structure is located on a remote server from the post office. An 8.3 naming convention is not used for the Restore Area directory structure.

Define the Restore Area for backup on the same server as the POA so that the POA does not have to cross the network to get to the Restore Area files. This can easily be done by adding a GroupWise POA to the server that is holding the restore directory structure even though it may be a remote server from the Post Office Agent. If the Agent is remote, a /home (with a full UNC path to the remote Post Office directory structure) and /user and /password (that has fie system rights to the Post Office directory structure) can be used to allow the remote POA to cross the network to load up against the remote Post Office directory structure while still having local NLM access to the Post Office Restore Area directory structure.

Lastly, the directory structure containing the restore area directory structure must comply with the 8.3 naming standards so that no directory name is longer then 8 characters.
