Environment

Novell ZENworks 7.5 Asset Management - ZAM7.5

Situation

In the ZAM Manager | Process Control Panel you can right click on the Collection Server and Edit Collection Server. Under the Advanced tab there are Threads settings. The default for these settings is 1, but if it is set higher, it can cause the Collection Server to crash.

Resolution

Setting the thread count to something other than 1 has caused problems with the Collection Server crashing. From testing, Novell has not seen the thread count set higher than 1 to have much effect on performance. The decision to remove the option to change the thread count was added to ZAM 7.5 IR 5.

If downloading the Interim Release manually from https://download.novell.com, select ZENworks Asset Management from the product drop down field, and then hit search and go to the Patches tab. The Interim releases can also be set up within the ZAM Manager for the Task server to check the site on a scheduled basis, and download and apply them automatically. Please refer to the Help Section for details of how to set up automatic downloads if desired.

Each interim release is cumulative. If Interim Release 5 is not available due to a newer interim release being placed on the website, be assured that the code needed is in the later release.
