The backup engine fails when attempting to backup open PST files.

Environment

NetWare 6.5 SP5
Customer was using HP's Data Protector, but we were able to duplicate the issue using the tsatst utility.

Situation

The backup engine would fail when attempting to backup open PST files (outlook express mail) when using the copy-on-write feature.

Resolution

The problem has been fixed for 6.5 SP4a with a new COMN.NSS module dated Jan 30, 2006, and will be include in post 6.5 sp5 releases.

Additional Information

The copy-on-write code was honoring the "deny write" attribute. We modified NSS to ignore this attribute in this case.
