Environment

Novell eDirectory 8.7.3.7 for Linux
Novell eDirectory 8.7.3.8 for Linux

Login Updates enabled under iMonitor Agent Configuration --> Login Settings
Server handles heavy NCP login traffic and connections

Situation

Memory utilisation of ndsd daemon increases after a peak login period and does not go down afterwards.

Resolution

The cause of the memory increase is memory fragmentation with the native memory allocator library when the Login Updates areenabled. Disabling the Login Updates is a possible workaround. If Login Updates cannot be disabled, set the Login Update delay to 0 seconds instead of the default value of 5 seconds.

- Login to iMonitor
- Browse to Agent Configuration --> Login Settings
- Disable Login updates OR Enable login updates, but set the update delay to 0 seconds instead of the default value of 5 seconds.

Note that there can be multiple possible causes of the memory buildup. This is just a quick test for confirming or ruling out one of these causes.
