Upgrading GroupWise Servers from SLES10 to SLES10 SP1

Situation

Purpose:
Upgrading GroupWise Servers from SLES10 to SLES10 SP1

Resolution

Follow the SLES10 to SLES10SP1 upgrade guide to upgrade SLES10 to SLES10SP1.

Follow the steps listed below before the upgrade

1. Make a copy of /etc/opt/novell/groupwise directory
2. Make a copy of /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/share directory
3. Follow the SLES10 to SLES10SP1 upgrade guide
4.During the upgrade delete the following RPMs
GroupWise RPMs
novell-base
novell-httpd
novell-mod_jk
novell-groupwise-gwinter
novell-groupwise-monitor
novell-groupwise-gwcheck
novell-j2sdk
novell-openldap
novell-db4
novell-httpd-manual
novell-tomcat4
novell-groupwise-gwmon
novell-groupwise-gwia
novell-groupwise-gwclient
novell-db4
novell-httpd-devel
novell-tomcat4-webapps
novell-groupwise-agents
novell-groupwise-webaccess
novell-groupwise-gwha

Some of the above RPMs may be shared by other application. Please look at the Upgrade Guide to deal with other applications

5. Complete the upgrade
6. Once the upgrade is complete, please restore the copies made in step1 and step2
7. Follow the steps listed below to install MTA and POA
  • Launch Shell Konsole
  • Browse to the Software directory using the cd command
  • Type "./install" without quotes and press Enter
  • Select the language and click OK
  • Click "Install Products"
  • Click "GroupWise Agents"
  • Click "Install Agents"
  • Click OK once the installation is completed
8. Follow the steps listed below to install GWIA
  • Launch Shell Konsole
  • Browse to the Software directory using the cd command
  • Type "./install" without quotes and press Enter
  • Select the language and click OK
  • Click "Install Products"
  • Click "GroupWise Internet Agent"
  • Click "Install Internet Agent"
  • Click OK once the installation is completed
9. Follow the steps listed below to install WebAccess Agent
  • Launch Shell Konsole
  • Browse to the Software directory using the cd command
  • Type "./install" without quotes and press Enter
  • Select the language and click OK
  • Click "Install Products"
  • Click "GroupWise WebAccess"
  • Click "Install WebAccess Agent"
  • Click OK once the installation is completed
10. Follow the steps listed below to install and configure WebAccess Application
  • Launch Shell Konsole
  • Browse to the Software directory using the cd command
  • Type "./install" without quotes and press Enter
  • Select the language and click OK
  • Click "Install Products"
  • Click "GroupWise WebAccess"
  • Click "Install WebAccess Application" if SLES 10's Instance of Apache and Tomcat is to be used
    • OR
  • Click "Install WebAccess Application with Apache and Tomcat" if GroupWise Instance of Apache and Tomcat is to be used
  • Click OK once the installation is completed
  • Click "Configure WebAccess Application" and follow the prompts
  • If SLES 10's instance of Apache and Tomcat is to be used, please follow the steps in the following TID
11. Follow the steps listed below to install and configure ConsoleOne
  • Download and extract the latest ConsoleOne from the latest GroupWise 8 Support Pack directory.  GW801HP1 can be downloaded by clicking on the link
  • Browse to the extracted directory using the cd command
  • Type "./c1-install" without quotes and press Enter
  • Select the language by typing the number and press Enter
  • Type 8 to select all the snapins and press Enter
  • Once the installation is completed, browse to /usr/ConsoleOne/bin with the cd command
  • Edit the file ConsoleOne using the vi command or any other editor and add the following after "export LD_LIBRARY_PATH" and save the file
C1_JRE_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/jre
12. Follow the steps listed below to install GroupWise snapins
  • Launch Shell Konsole
  • Browse to the Software directory using the cd command
  • Type "./install" without quotes and press Enter
  • Select the language and click OK
  • Click "Install Products"
  • Click "GroupWise Administration"
  • Click "Install Administration"
  • Click OK once the installation is completed
