Novell Identity Manager 3.0.1
Novell Identity Manager 3.0

Situation

The information that is provided by default on the ChangePassword Portlet lists the exact requirements for the password as outlined in the Password Policy.
Is it possible to provide more information to the end users regarding the password requirements and some examples?

Resolution

This can be accomplished in the User Application by adding a Message Portlet to the "Change Password" shared page. Within the body of the message portlet any information that the end user should be made aware could be entered and will therefore appear on the "Change Password" shared page. Below are the steps to accomplish this:

1. Login to User Application as the Admin user

2. Select 'Administration' Tab

3. On the 'Shared Page Administration' Tab select the 'Change Password' Shared Page

4. Press the 'Select Content' Link

5. Select the Message Portlet and press the add button

6. With the Message Portlet highlighted in the right-hand column press the 'Content Preferences Link' (press OK)

7. Press the 'View/Edit Custom Preference' link

8. Press Go

9. When the default text appears delete it all.

10. Enter the text that should be displayed to the end user

11. Press Save

12. Select the 'Return to List View' link

13. Press the 'Save Preferences' button

14. Select the 'Save Contents' link

15. Press the 'Arrange Content' link

16. Move the Message Portlet above the IDM Change Password Portlet

17. Press the 'Save Layout' link

18. Select the 'Identity Self-Service' tab and test.
