Situation
The symptom will
be that the machine is not getting scanned. If you put the
collection client in diagnostic mode by using diagnostic=1 (for
3.2, 3.3 and 7.0) or diagnostic=2 (7.5) as the last line in
\bin\CPS.INI file, stop and restart the ZAM collection client
service you will see the error 'WinSock Library, bind, Socket: 312,
Error Code: 10048 listener creation failure' within the client's
trace window.
Resolution
Check:
1. Be
sure that the port used by the collection client is open in a
bidirectional manner. The port needs to be opened for
outgoing and incoming messages.
2.
Check to see if the collection client's host is available.
You can check by looking within the Process Control Panel within
the ZAM Manager or by using the Windows Task Manager for the
process Colsvrcore.exe on the Collection Server
Machine.
Colsvrcore.exe is the
main executable for the collection server. It gets started by
Colsvr.exe and Colsvr.exe passes Colsvrcore.exe it's user name and
password to access the Filestore folder.
If
Colsvrcore.exe is not running you will get a listener creation
failure message since the client cannot connect to its
host.
