Environment

Novell BorderManager 3.8
Novell NetWare 6.5
NMAS Radius

Situation

Opening the Dial Access System object in ConsoleOne hangs the program (it no longer responds).

Resolution

Ensure that the current directory that ConsoleOne is run from has a copy of the radius.atr file. Different operating systems :
  • Windows - this location can be identified by editing the shortcut for ConsoleOne, and viewing the working directory. This is typically C:\Novell\ConsoleOne\1.2\bin
  • NetWare - when running ConsoleOne using the STARTX command on a NetWare server (and in the GUI, choosing "ConsoleOne"), the directory is the SYS volume root.
  • Linux - this is typically the users' home directory. Additionally, in Linux, ensure that the filename is completely lowercase as the system is looking for a lowercase file, and the Linux file system is case-sensitive.
Once the file is in the proper place, restart ConsoleOne.

Additional Information

When running ConsoleOne using a -debug and -windowout debugging options, this error manifests itself with a java.lang.FileNotFoundException regarding radius.atr , and can only be corrected by placing a radius.atr file in the proper location prior to starting ConsoleOne.
