Environment

Novell iPrint for Linux Open Enterprise Server 2

Situation

The values for the eDirectory attributes on the iPrint custom banner do not print. List of the attributes that do not print:
eDir mail stop
eDir e-mail address
eDir location
eDir telephone number
eDir user first name
eDir user full name
eDir user last name

The banner page will print and the Job Name will print, but values for the attributes will not print.

This problem is present with iPrint on Open Enterprise Server 2. The problem does not exist with iPrint on Open Enterprise Server 1.

Resolution

Apply the updated novell-iprint-server RPM available in the Channel.  Once the fix is applied, the Print Manager object must be given additional rights and the workstation submitting the print job must have an eDirectory connection to the Tree. See the Additional Notes section of this TID for details on these requirements.

Additional Information

Steps to duplicate the problem.

1. Create a custom banner.
Configure the following options to be part of the banner:
eDir mail stop
eDir e-mail address
eDir location
eDir telephone number
eDir user first name
eDir user full name
eDir user last name
2. Assign the Banner to a printer agent
3. Per the OES documentation, give the Print Manager rights to the eDirectory object:
a. In iManager, click Rights > Modify Trustee Rights.
b. Select the container or tree where you want to modify the rights.
c. Click Add Trustee, then select the Print Manager object.
d. Click Add Property, select the Show All Properties in Schema check box
e. Select the following attributes:
mailstop
EMail Address
L
Telephone Number
Given Name
Full Name
Surname
f. Click OK.
g. Ensure that at least the Read right is selected.
h. Click Done.
4. Ensure the user object send the print job has those eDir values (email address, tel #, etc) populated.
5. Ensure the user from step 4 has it's primary connection to the Tree hosting the Print Manager.
a. Right-click the RED N -> Novell Connections
b. The asterisk marks the Tree with the primary connection
6. From the workstation that has the Novell connection (see step 5), send a print job to the iPrint printer that has the custom banner assigned.

The banner page will print, but none of the eDir values will be printed.
