Situation

ZENworks for Desktops Management Agent and NetIdentity Agent Not Compatible.
Installing the ZfD 4.0.1 Management Agent on top of NetIdentiy 1.2 breaks NetIdentity and ZENworks.
Associated apps not displaying in NAL Application Window, NAL Application Explorer or NAL Web view.

Resolution

Co-existence of the ZENworks for Desktops Agent and NetIdentiy client is not supported in the NetWare 6.5 release. Upgrading to the NetIdentity client from the ZENworks for Desktops Management Agent is also not supported. If ZENworks for Desktops functionality is not needed, you can remove the ZENworks for Desktops Management Agent and install the NetIdentity client from the Novell Clients CD that ships with NetWare 6.5. This will provide the automatic authentication it was designed for, but at the loss of Workstation Inventory, Application Launcher, etc.

Additional Information

The ZENworks for Desktops Management Agent links into the browser installed on the workstation. It also installs supporting files to provide ZENworks for Desktops functionality whether using the MidTier or Novell Client. When the Agent is installed on the workstation and Internet Explorer is used to access NetIdentity-enabled Web services such as Virtual Office, iManager, etc., on NetWare 6.5, the browser will crash during or after authenticating to the Web service.

Steps to duplicate:
- On a new workstation, install the NetIdentity Agent version 1.2 or install only the NetIdentity Agent from the Novell Client 3.4 or 4.9 (not the entire Novell Client).
- Install the ZFD 4.0.1 Management Agent.
