3
Situation
When docking and undocking a laptop multiple times, the Novell
mapped drives are no longer available.
The problem does not occur when using Microsoft shares.
The problem does not resolve itself even if you wait for
several minutes.
The only way to fix the problem is to logout and login
again.
The Novell client is installed onto a workstation that has a
wireless NIC and a wired NIC.
When the laptop is undocked, the connection switches from the
wired NIC to the wireless NIC.
When the laptop is docked, the connection switches from the
wireless NIC to the wired NIC.
Resolution
The problem described in this document is fixed in an updated
NWFS.SYS dated 06Feb2007 or later, available fromhttps://download.novell.com/patch/finder
Additional Information
When you undock a laptop and dock it again, there are instances in
which you may get the following error:
":\ is not accessible. The
specified network name is no longer available."
This error can be considered transitory in nature, meaning
after waiting 10 or 20 seconds after the dock/undock event, the
driver letter will be reconnected. This is normal
behavior. The Novell client is reconnecting to the file
server resources in the background.
However, there are instances where the Novell client will
return the "drive not accessible" error and regardless of how much
time has elapsed, the error persists. In this instance, the
Novell Client was being returned an error code that the client was
not expecting. Code was added to handle the error code.
Now the Novell Client will reconnect to the server as
expected.
