Unable to register device using 'rug sa <http://serveraddress>'

Environment

Novell ZENworks Linux Management 7 - ZLM7
Red Hat Enterprise Server v3.0 - RHEL3AS

Situation

Registering a device using 'rug sahttp://serveraddress'hangs rug at 0%.

Subsequent'rug sa' commands return ERROR: A service of type 'ZENworks' already exists on this client.

Resolution

CA's eTrust service was loading before ZMD causing problems with the registration process.

Workaround:
  1. Remove the eTrust package
  2. Start zmd using '/etc/init.d/novell-zmd start'
  3. use rug sa to add the desired service
  4. Install eTrust again

Additional Information

  2. rug hangs at 0%
  3. Control-C to break out
  4. 'rug sa' again returns ERROR: A service of type 'ZENworks' already exists on this client.
  5. 'rug sl' shows -- No services found --
  6. restarting novell-zmd does not resolve it
  7. deleted /var/opt/novell/zenworks/zmd/lib/services
  8. 'rug sa' again, same failure
