Environment

Novell ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management - ZfD6.5
Novell ZENworks Remote Management
Novell ZENworks for Desktops 4.0.1 - ZfD4.0.1

Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Support Pack 1 - ZDM7 SP1 Remote Management

Situation

Can't get scheduled "wake on LAN" to work but manual "wake on LAN" works fine
WOL policy not working.

Resolution

Verify that the server is picking up the correct effective policy by checking the effective policies of the server object.
Can a workstation object be manually woken up by right clicking on it, choosing actions | remote wake up?
The WOL policy should automatically be assigned a trustee to the container that is choosen in the WOL policy target list, but if for some reason that doesn't happen, the WOL policy will need to be given browse and create DS entry rights and compare, read and write "All attribute rights" to the target workstation container.
Make sure the WOL Service object lookup schedule includes "now" (the time that it's supposed to work). The WOL service doesn't automatically look to EDIR for WOL policies when it starts up. It only looks for policies when it's told to in the WOL Service object "look up schedule"
