Environment
Novell Access Management 3 Access Administration
Novell Access Manager Support Pack 1
Situation
There are differences in the cryptographic and eDirectory libraries
on the Admin Console depending on whether we install the Admin
Console SP1 build from scratch, or upgrade from a previous
version. On new installations, crypto and eDirectory libraries
(rpms) get installed to the latest versions 8.1.1-7. However, on
Upgrades, the crypto and eDirectory libraries (rpms) do not get
upgraded. There was actually code in the install script that
prevented these components from being upgraded.
If one updates just the crypto components, which are used by edirectory as well, there will be an issue trying to uninstall the product cleanly because of mixed rpm versions. Thus we have left things the way they are at this point.
When an Admin user looks at the iManager page where the AM version is displayed (Auditing -> Troubleshooting tab), they will see that the AM components have indeed been upgraded. Looking at the rpm versions however, that will not be the case.

Resolution
Leave as is. The product works just fine with this setup, and there
are no incompatibilities between edir 8.8 and 8.8.1; however, it
should be pointed out that the 8.8.1 upgrade does modify the data
store in edirectory.
