How to merge NDS trees and bring a secondary domain in to the same tree as the primary

Situation

Secondary domain is in a different NDS tree than the primary
How to merge NDS trees and bring a secondary domain in to the same tree as the primary

Resolution

To merge NDS trees and then graft a secondary domain into an existing NDS tree:
  1. Connect to the primary domain
  2. Select the secondary domain, select Tools | GroupWise Utilities | System Maintenance | Release Secondary Domain
  3. Select Tools | GroupWise Utilities | Link Configuration
  4. Change "Link Type" for the external domain (was the secondary) to "Undefined"
  5. Delete the "External Domain" reference from GroupWise view
  6. Merge NDS trees
  7. Connect to the external domain.
  8. Graft it into the NDS tree following KB 10084509 (How to Graft GroupWise Objects).
  9. Connect to the primary domain and create an external domain referencing the external domain
  10. Highlight the external domain in GroupWise view, select Tools | GroupWise Utilities | System Maintenance | Merge
  11. Top-down rebuild the GroupWise system, see Doing a Top Down Rebuild on GroupWise 5, 6, 6.5 or 7 (KB 3347260)
