Situation
Applications which use LUM to perform authentication and name
resolution either fail to respond or are very slow to
respond.
LUM users are unable to login via LUM enabled services.
Use of cache-only=yes parameter in /etc/nam.conf lessens the severity of the symptoms

Resolution
Apply the following patches:

NLDAPbase-8.7.3.9-71 and NLDAPsdk-8.7.3.9-71 (Patch 11668) or newer. Patch 11668 is available at https://support.novell.com/techcenter/psdb/b2d506dbb5a7cc6740f797fdf6a3c991.html
Note: novell-lum-2.2.0.14-2 is newer than novell-lum-2.2.0.16-1 which was not released as an official patch.
Note: The NLDAPbase and NLDAPsdk available in patch 11668 are newer than the packages that ship with eDirectory 8.7.3 SP9. These fixes are also available in eDirectory 8.8.2 and eDirectory 8.7.3 SP10.
