Environment
Novell GroupWise 7
Novell GroupWise Internet Agent (GWIA)
Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9
Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
The GWIA is running on a SLES9 or a SLES10 server. On this server no xserver is installed.
Situation
Following the documentation, you need to install a xserver on SLES
when you install a GroupWise system on this server. There are
companies that don't allow a xserver on a server that is running in
a DMZ. This TID will describe how to configure a GroupWise 7.0.1 or
later GWIA running on a SLES server without xserver. This is not a
supported solution.
An error you will see when you want to edit the properties of a GWIA is EXEPATH.CFG not found. You will not have the GWIA specific tabs in ConsoleOne
An error you will see when you want to edit the properties of a GWIA is EXEPATH.CFG not found. You will not have the GWIA specific tabs in ConsoleOne
Resolution
You need to do the following:
- Create a share on the SLES server. The mountpoint should be the root of the directory were the groupwise system is. e.g. //server/grpwise/dom1 the share should be on grpwise. For security reasons it is best to start smb manual (rcsmb start) and stop it after you have made the changes (rcsmb stop).
- Change on the SLES server the /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/gwia.cfg at the end. You not to remove/remark everything except --home and --dhome. Please make a backup copy of the existing GWIA.CFG first.
- Create a soft link of the /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/gwia.cfg in the gwia directory. E.g. ln -s /opt/novell/groupwise/agents/gwia.cfg /grpwise/dom1/wpgate/gwia70/gwia.cfg
- Change in the EXEPATH.CFG the location of the GWIA.CFG. You can
find the EXEPATH.CFG in gwia directory. In this example
/grpwise/dom1/wpgate/gwia70. Be careful you should use \ (slash)
instead of / !!!!
- Restart the GWIA on the SLES server. E.g. rcgrpwise stop DOM1.GWIA70
- On your windows workstation make a mapping to this share.
- Start ConsoleOne and connect to you primary GroupWise domain. Do not connect to the domain on the SLES server. This could cause corruption.
- Goto the properties of your GWIA and select the proper directory under gateway directory. Save the settings and restart ConsoleOne
- Now you can use ConsoleOne to administrate you GWIA on SLES.
