Situation
In an
upgrade from ZHM 6.5 to ZHM 7, will the existing database be
used?
Will
applications deployed to handheld devices using ZHM 6.5Application
Distribution be re-deployed to the handhelds after an upgrade to
ZHM 7?
Resolution
If the"Upgrade” option is selected during the ZHM 7
installation, the original database will be retained and the the
ZHM back-end services will ensure that the database is updated with
any new database schema changes. If for some reason, you
chose to uninstall ZHM 6.5 first, and then install ZHM 7, then the
old database would be destroyed.
Note:
There is no database schema change from ZHM 6.5 to the current
version of 7 but this may change in future releases of ZHM
7.
After an upgrade, the ZHM Server database (in conjunction with the ZHM Access Point database) keeps the information about the Application distribution so the functionality will continue as it was with ZHM 6.5.
For example, if an application was already sent (and no resend of application was pending), then the application would not be re-deployed to the handheld device. However, if the handheld device was hard-reset, then the applications would be re-deployed as expected.
