Environment

Novell Access Management 3 Linux Access Gateway
Novell Access Management 3 Access Administration
Novell Access Management 3 Support Pack 1 applied

Situation

Customer configured the AG Servers -> Configuration -> Alerts options so that
system down, system up and configuration changes would get logged to the
Administraion Console. The 'Send to Device Manager:' flag was enabled which
sends alerts to the Administration Console as per the docs.

When the admin makes some config changes, and then goes to the Alert's field on
the first AG screen (beside the health check), the alert is successfully
triggered with a message 'Proxy configuration has changed.'. However, when the
system is downed, there is no alert notifying the admin of this scenario.

The following conditions should be able to generate alerts to the Admin Console but only
a small fraction of them actually do

Connection Refused Login Failed
Proxy Initialization Failure DNS Server Not Responding
System Up DNS Server is Now Responding
System Down DNS Parent Address Invalid
Configuration Changed DNS Resolver Initialization Failure (10
Seconds)
Login Succeeded DNS Resolver Initialization Failure (2 minutes)

Resolution

Fixed in nam3sp1ir2.tar.gz (Access Manager 3 Support Pack 1 Interim Release 2). When the system is stopped using the 'novell-vmc stop' command, then Admin Console shows the alert as "Warning- Proxy is down." When the 'novell-vmc start' command is executed, then the Admin Console shows the alert as "Information - Proxy is up and functioning."
