GroupWise 7 viewers cannot view an image embedded in MS word documents

A Word document with an image, such as a jpg, will show as a blank box when viewed with the GroupWise 7 client.
Duplication steps:
Take a basic word document with an image (version of Word and size of the image seem to be irrelevant). Right click and view the attachment from the GroupWise client. The text will be there however the image will show as a blank box.


This issue has been fixed in the 703 client but there are some steps that need to be taken.
The solution to this will allow the view mode to stick between sessions, but it still defaults to draft mode, which means that the image in question may not appear initially. They have to switch to normal mode, and from that point on it will remain in normal mode, barring any re-installation.
The steps needed to be done are:
  • Install the 7.0.3 Windows Client
  • Open an email that has a Word document as an attachment
  • View the attachment using the Stellant viewers
  • Right click in the window that is displaying the contents of the Word document
  • Select the menu option - View Item | View and then select"Normal"
This selection will remain from then on - or at least until the next time the client is installed. The default mode is"draft" and changing it to "normal" works around displaying pictures.
Before the 7.0.3 client, if you change it to "normal", it would return to "draft' when the client was restarted. Now it's a remembered setting
