Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
Situation
The version of Novell Audit installed in Add/Remove Programs
in the Control Panel is incorrect.
It shows a previous version as the version installed, not the
new version.
When the properties of various components are checked, the
files have the correct version.
The network administrator upgraded from Novell Audit 2.0 to
2.0.1 or 2.0.2.
The network administrator upgraded from Novell Audit 2.0.1 to
2.0.2.
Resolution
The problem has been reported to engineering and will not be
fixed. This is working as designed. The Installshield
install is configured such that if you are upgrading from Novell
Audit 2.0 to 2.0.1 or 2.0.2 or 2.0.1 to 2.0.2, this is marked as a
minor install. Because it is marked as a minor install, the
version shown in Add/Remove programs does not get updated.
If you want to know what version of Novell Audit 2.0.x is
running on your server, you will need to check the versions of the
Auditing modules that are installed on your Windows server.
Or if you want to avert the problem altogether, you can uninstall
your previous install of audit and reinstall. It is not
necessary to do an uninstall when performing a minor upgrade.
All of the audit modules do get upgraded correctly. Only the
version number does not change.
Those users that are upgrading from 1.0.x to 2.0.x will have
the proper version of Audit show up in Add/Remove Programs.
Upgrading from 1.0.x to 2.0.x is considered a major upgrade and the
version gets bumped during this type of upgrade.
