Microsoft Windows 2003 Server
Error: "The network load balancing service failed to start due to the following error: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has not enabled devices associated with it."
Error Load Balancing Services Startup in the Event Viewer SYSTEM LOG.
Microsoft has identified this as a known issue scheduled to be included in the first release of a service pack for Windows 2003. Because the NLB registry keys are installed by default, even if the NLB component is not checked, installing a service that makes itself dependant on the PNP_TDI group in the registry may cause the service startup errors to be logged. This error can be considered spurious and will not affect server operations or functionality.
For a workaround, see Microsoft Support Article 833375.
