No LDAP and Security objects are created in Unix/Linux environment

Environment

Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for Solaris
Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for Linux
Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for AIX
Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for HP-UX

Situation

Installed new server using eDirectory 8.7.3.6 or greater
No LDAP and Security objects are created in Unix/Linux environment
LDAP does not work
Schema extension failed
Schema extension failed for /usr/lib/nds-schema/notf.sch
Schema extension failed for /usr/lib/nds-schema/nsimpm.sch

Resolution

Install the Security update and run the "ndsconfig upgrade -a admin.novell" command where "admin.novell" stands for your local admin account. This will fix the objects for you and LDAP should work fine after the restart of ndsd.

Additional Information

No Security updates installed. The Security updates were included in 8.7.3.6, but need to be installed separately. In later versions, the Security update comes as a separate product which needs to be downloaded and installed separately. You can get the latest update from https://download.novell.com
