NAL application fails with a distribution rule to a network file and workstation only login

Environment

Novell ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management Support Pack 2 - ZDM6.5 SP2 Application Launcher (NAL)

Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Support Pack 1 - ZDM7 SP1 Application Launcher (NAL)

Situation

NAL application fails with a distribution rule of "File Exist Rule" pointing to a network file location, with the workstation only associated to the NAL application and logging in as workstation only.

Error: Application Launcher Status: Application failed to install. [App: Calc.novell] (id=183)

Resolution

This is working as designed. Workstation associated, Chained applications do not have the ability to check for a file based off of a UNC path.

Work around:

1. Check for the file dependency local on the workstation.

2. Login to eDirectory with a User Object, this does not have the problem.
