Situation
Some confusion has happened regarding SAP versions. Is SAP 4.7 the latest version of SAP? References have been made to the term SAP 7 or MySAP 700. Is that the same as 4.7?
Resolution
No SAP 4.7 isn't the same as mySAP 700. The latest version of R/3 is 4.7. With R/3 4.6 SAP changed the version number of the Basis and Web App Server module to 6.20 and in R/3 4.7 it went to 6.40. R/3 was replaced by ECC version 5.0. There is now ECC 6.0. ECC (ERP Central Component) is also referred to as mySAP ERP. NetWeaver (main component of mySAP) is the app server on which ECC runs. The latest version of NetWeaver is 7.0 or 700 which is the same as Basis.
