Environment

Novell ZENworks Desktop Management 7 - ZDM7 Application Launcher (NAL)
Background Intelligent Transfer Service - BITS

Situation

BITS throttling is not supported as a feature for Windows 2000 machines; however, some registry keys can be used as a workaround to configure BITS.

Resolution

Configure the following registry keys in order to enable BITS.
HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\BITS
"EnableBITSMaxBandwidth"=dword:00000001 >> enabled
"MaxTransferRateOnSchedule"=dword:0000000a >> 10Kbps
"MaxBandwidthValidFrom"=dword:00000008 >> 8 AM
"MaxBandwidthValidTo"=dword:00000011 >> 5PM
"UseSystemMaximum"=dword:00000001 >> Go to full bandwidth outside of set time
"MaxTransferRateOffSchedule"=dword:00000014 >> if not full BW option enabled, use 20 Kbps
