Situation
Migrated files would demigrate from secondary storage back to the
nss volumes during the backups. This problem happened after
updating to spack 7. Previous spacks did not show the issue. This
problem would result in disk space problems as all the files were
demigrated back to the nss volumes. This happened with different
tape software solutions.
Resolution
We found that when the tape software opened files with the
LOCK IF DENY WRITE FAILS then the problem would happen. If we
changed the open mode DENY WRITE which is a more strict version,
the demigration did not occur. Changes were made to this tsafs to
only lock the primary data stream if we're doing a stub+data
backup. This will allow for any file open mode without demigrating
the data.
