Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management

Situation

ERROR:"Another instance of the Group Policy tool is executing. Close the tool and configure the settings again"

Cannot launch Group Policy tool in ZCC when the "configure" button is cliced.

Resolution

Be sure that there are no other instances of the Group Policy tool running on this PC at this time, then delete the following registry key:

For ZCM 10.3 onwards: HKCU\Software\Novell\ZCM\GroupPolicy\Helper,"ToolRunning"

For previous versions of ZCM: HKCU\Software\Novell\ZENworks\GroupPolicy\Helper,"ToolRunning" (early versions of the helper used HKLM\Software\Novell\ZENworks\GroupPolicy\Helper,"ToolRunning")

Additional Information

This registry key is used by ZCC to keep track of whether the tool is running, for use if another instance of the tool is requested. If your PC crashed whilst running the Group Policy tool, this key may not have been cleared.
