Environment

Novell eDirectory 8.7.3.9 for All Platforms
Novell ConsoleOne 1.3.6

Situation

The following ConsoleOne error message is sporadically generated when selecting a partition root object, or when selecting an NCP server object in Partition and Replica view:

(Error -329) The server returned an 'infotype' parameter that did not agree with the infotype passed in. This is an internal program error.

Resolution

This problem arises when Advanced Referral Costing (ARC) is enabled on at least one server in your eDirectory tree. The workaround for this issue is to set the ARC_DS_INFO interval to zero (disabled). This does not disable ARC, but rather disables additional health information that is incorrectly being passed back to the client and causing the ConsoleOne error message.

To set the ARC_DS_INFO interval to zero, do the following on each server with ARC enabled:

  1. Go to iMonitor
  2. Enable Advanced Mode
    1. Click NDS iMonitor in the upper left corner of the window
    2. Click the Enabled radio button next to Advanced Mode (possibly dangerous)
    3. Click Submit
  3. Click Agent Configuration | Permanent Settings | Change
  4. Choose ARC DS_INFO Interval from the Type: drop-down list
  5. Ensure the value is 0 (zero) | Click Save
  6. Disable Advanced Mode in iMonitor
    1. Click NDS iMonitor in the upper left corner of the window
    2. Click the Disabled radio button next to Advanced Mode (possibly dangerous)
    3. Click Submit
Do this for every server with ARC enabled. You do not need to reboot the server or restart eDirectory for this change to take effect.
