Situation

When you need to resolve a problem on your Linux server, there are a host of troubleshooting tools available to you for understanding the root cause and assist in resolving the problem. Novell Technical Support (NTS) has created a tool that helps organize system data in a way that minimizes service request resolution time. Some tools gathering general information from the server, while others are used for specific troubleshooting areas.

Resolution

supportconfig for Linux (supportconfig)
https://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tools/16106.html
Gathers sufficient system information to reduce service request resolution times. Please run the tool and attach the tarball output to your service request.

Binary Check Tool (chkbin)
https://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tools/19388.html
Runs an rpm validation check on all RPMs that own the file being checked, and it's shared library dependencies. The RPMs that fail validation can be considered for reinstalling. You should run this tool on applications that are behaving oddly or not working at all.

NCS Volume Resource Validation Tool (vr_ncs_check.sh)
https://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tools/17773.html
The tool is specific to Novell Open Enterprise Server with an NSS volume resource in a Novell Cluster Services cluster. It uses LDAP to check the eDirectory object associations on the resources.
